Oral Presentation

Oral presenters will be given the opportunity of a 10 minute Oral Presentation (8min + 2min questions and answer period) and are asked to prepare a PowerPoint presentation with a maximum of 10 slides for this presentation (not including title, author and disclosure slides). All presenting oral and mini oral abstract presenters must be from an Academic Institution and not from a Pharmaceutical Industry.

Each presentation MUST include a disclosure slide.

Please proof-read the title of your abstract and the names of the authors. This is how your information will appear in the Abstract Book (JTO supplement) and on the Conference website prior to IASLC WCLC 2019. Please check the details carefully and contact wclc2019-abstracts at icsevents.com if you are not the presenting author for the abstracts listed below or for any other correction.

General Information

  • After a set of 3 related abstract presentations, a discussant (keynote speaker) will provide a brief summary of the work that has been presented, commenting on the strengths and weaknesses and placing it in the context of other research/knowledge in the relevant area
  • In order for the discussant to prepare his/her presentation, the oral presenter must submit your presentation slides no later than Monday, August 5, 2019 via the online submission system (link provided mid of July). Minor changes to the presentation can be made later and submitted to the Speaker Ready Room onsite
  • Oral presenters are encouraged to use the IASLC WCLC 2019 presentation slide template: Download Template
  • All session room screens will be in 16:9 format
  • Please be in the room for your session 10 minutes before the start time of the session. The Session Chairs will start and end strictly on time

Presentation Preparation

  • Your presentation must be prepared in PowerPoint2000 or any later PowerPoint Version (MS Windows) and provided on an USB-removable drive
  • Set the slide size of the page to “On-screen show” and landscape orientation in the page set-up section. (Portrait orientation will not be displayed properly)
  • Use high-contrast lettering, and not too much text per page (max. 10 lines or 15-20 words). Make sure you use high-contrast colors for the best definition of your text. Please be aware that red letters or lines are usually not visible
  • As a general rule, you should not present more than 1 slide per minute. Visual material supports the speech and should not be the transcription of it
  • The inclusion of a disclosure slide is mandatory even if you have no conflicts to declare
  • It is recommended to keep a copy of your presentation at the time of the presentation, should a problem occur. Furthermore, please have the presentation printed on paper, for reference during the lecture
  • Special characters: To avoid any compatibility problems, please do not use special characters (i.e. “, Ö, Ø, ñ, ?, ®, ý, }, { etc) to name your presentation or movie files

Onsite Information

  • You are requested to check-in your presentation (on your USB-removable drive) at the Speaker Ready Room at least 3 hours prior to your scheduled presentation. If for any reason you are unable to meet this schedule, please inform the IASLC WCLC Conference Secretariat at wclc2019-abstracts at icsevents.com before the Conference
  • Please note that technicians in the meeting rooms are not prepared to receive presentations directly from the speakers
  • Computers are available for you in the Speaker Ready Room for your final check
  • Once the presentation has been checked, the technical staff will be responsible for its delivery to the session rooms in preparation for your presentation.
  • Macintosh presentations (i.e. Keynote) cannot be accommodated, unless saved to a PC-formatted USB stick
Mini Oral Presentation

Mini oral presenters will be given the opportunity of a 5 minute Mini Oral Presentation (no Q&A) and are asked to prepare a PowerPoint presentation with a maximum of 5 slides for this presentation (not including title, author and disclosure slide). All presenting oral and mini oral abstract presenters must be from an Academic Institution and not from a Pharmaceutical Industry.

Each presentation MUST include a disclosure slide.

Poster Presentation

You will be asked to prepare a poster. The maximum poster size is: 140cm (wide) x 90cm (high) - landscape format

Push pins will be provided in the Exhibit Hall to set-up posters.

Poster Printing Guidelines

It is important to set up your slide to a size that is proportional to the printed size of the poster. In PowerPoint, go to Page Setup and select Custom. Fill in the proper width and height.

Maximum poster size: each poster can be a maximum size of 140cm (wide) x 90cm (high) - landscape format

One slide only please! – Create your poster from a single PowerPoint slide.

Fonts – Choose two fonts at most, nothing cursive. Stick to sans-serif fonts for legibility: Arial and Helvetica are recommended. If you wish to use a serif font, we recommend Times New Roman (Windows) or Times (Macintosh).

Excel Charts – You can paste Excel charts into PowerPoint: from Excel, select your chart and Copy, then in PowerPoint, Paste the chart where you want it to appear. For detailed instructions see Microsoft Office Support

Word Text – Insert a text box into your PowerPoint slides, copy the text from your Word document and paste it into the textbox in your slide.

Image Files – To add image file, select “Insert”>”Picture”. Images should be good quality and appear clear and sharp on your screen. Since they will be enlarged for printing, we recommend that images are set to a resolution of 300 dpi.

Backgrounds – For legibility and viewing ease, we suggest that you keep your backgrounds simple and avoid using dark colors.

Poster Number – Please note that your poster number will be different than your ABSTRACT ID number. Your poster number will be communicated to you closer to the conference. This number will be displayed on your poster board, please affix your poster under your number displayed.

Poster Printing Service

The Conference offers to print your poster and have it ready for you to pick up in the Exhibit Hall at an additional charge. The Poster Printing service will be available in July.

Poster Electronic File

IASLC would like all poster presenters to submit an electronic file of their poster to be included in the IASLC virtual library. The electronic file should be submitted in addition to having a printed poster presented at the Conference. Your poster electronic file should be PowerPoint (PPT) or Adobe (PDF) file format. At the end of July, you will receive a link to submit your poster PowerPoint slides online. The deadline to submit your slides is Friday, August 30, 2019.

Schedule Conflict

If you have a scheduling conflict with another presentation, we strongly encourage you to ask one of your co-authors to stand by your poster during the Poster Viewing times noted below to informally answer questions from Conference delegates. Please carefully check the schedule of all your presentations and contact wclc2019-abstracts at icsevents.com if you wish to change the presenting author and/or abstract title.

Mandatory Poster Display and Session Attendance

Poster Presenters must place their poster(s) and be present during their assigned Poster Viewing session. Presenting authors who do not comply may be at risk of having their abstract(s) rejected at future WCLC conferences.

E-Poster Guidelines

Prepare your E-Poster in a single PowerPoint slide (PPT) in 16:9 landscape format. During mid July, you will receive a link to submit your E-Poster PowerPoint slides online. The deadline to submit your slides is Monday, August 5, 2019.

E-Poster Display

  • E-Posters will be displayed on a 60 inch digital screen during the conference from September 8 - 9, 2019
  • You do not need to print a physical poster
  • You are not required to be present for your E-Poster presentation, however, your conference registration is still required in order to display your E-Poster
  • Queries regarding your E-Poster will be sent to you via email
